Vanguard
uses Vital Processing Services to provide the authorization and capture
of electronic transactions, delivery of these transactions to various
Merchant Settlement Systems and Data Warehouse and Web-based reporting.
VITAL operates Tandem fault-tolerant systems for real-time
authorization and capture of POS transactions. The processing systems
are located in Tempe AZ and Columbus GA and operates in a redundant
processing mode. Sufficient capacity exists in each site to handle 100%
of the transaction volume requirements. Processing would continue on
the remaining site with disaster virtually unnoticed by the merchants.
For planned outages, which are very rare (once per year) and very early
in the morning, the inbound networks are rerouted to the alternate site
prior to bringing the system down so there is zero impact on our
merchants’ transactions.
